Review of Metcalfe’s Popcorn

Metcalfe’s skinny topcorn is one of the best-selling popcorn lines in the UK. A low-fat alternative to crisps is available in 6 delicious flavours of skinny popcorn: Sea salt, Sweet ‘n salt, Wasabi, Chocolate crackle, Heat ‘n sweet and Sweet Cinnamon Spice.

Wasabi – A pale green coloured corn had a subtle peppery and mustard taste, not salty but very moreish. Quite light in wasabi for my palette as I craved more of a punch of heat however the further I munched through bag the stronger the flavour. Towards the end the popcorn left a tingle on my tongue.

Sweet Cinnamon Spice – my favourite out the bunch, bursting with earthy cinnamon spice scent and slight maple tones. Sweet, bark dusted popcorn smelt like christmas in a bag.

Sweet n Salt – I’m one of those weird people who ask for half sweet half salty popcorn at the cinema, well now you can buy it in a bag! Genius!. A good balance of sweet against salty, extremely addictive.!

Sea Salt – exactly what it says on the tin. Strong salty taste, a little much for me but for perfect for a salt fiend.

Heat n Sweet – a sweet chilli flavour topcorn, peppery slightly sweet and spicy from chilli powder, cayenne and cumin dry spices. Very enjoyable, light and a great alternative to Bombay mix.

Metcalfe’s Popcorn are a fantastic snack anytime of the day, perfect in pack lunches, mid morning munchies or a new alternative to a cinema nibbles. Fusion of favourite flavours to create a light, low fat and fun factor to the normal plain popcorn.  Gourmet popcorn is all the rage, from the everyday salty and sweet flavours to the unique goat’s cheese and black pepper blends, posh popcorn is the perfect snack. With new varieties coming soon, I look forward to the what the Metcalfe’s team come up with.
