Review of Galeta bakery

London bakers Galeta pride themselves on producing fresh baked treats made from all natural ingredients.

Starting off in humble beginnings selling a handful of desserts on a small market stall along the King’s Road, London they now sell their produce in high end stores such as Fortum and Mason, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

I was lucky enough to try their very popular pastel de natas, Portuguese sweet egg custard within a deep filled flakey pastry tarts.


There are 3 types of flavours available; raspberry, blueberry and vanilla.

The sweet wobbly bright yellow custard is a thick consistency, smooth, rich and creamy. The pastry remained crisp and flakey no soggy bottom!.


The added berries gave a tang and sharpness to the tarts bursting with juice, colour and another level of taste sensations.



  The pastel de nata is deep and filled to the brim with custard, portion and taste are not scrimped on.


My ultimate favourite cake is red velvet and this did not disappoint. Huge in size, a perfectly risen double layer sponge, ruby red with a cocoa brown touch.


The cake was well baked, moist, dense yet a light crumb.


The cream cheese/ buttermilk  frosting was neatly plastered around the cake, smooth, silky and sprinkled with red cake crumbs for extra decoration.

The cake overall was not too sweet and overpowered with a heavy layer of frosting, a great relief as it usually is too sugary sweet.
